Burchell Edwards helps fundraise for amateur boxing club

Chapelhouse Boys Amateur Boxing Club hosted a Charity Boxing fundraising event on Thursday 26th March 2009, 7pm at St. Anne's Social Club, Bosworth Drive, Chelmsley Wood in order to raise money and awareness to enable them to continue their work in the community.

Burchell Edwards Estate Agents were proud sponsors of the event. Assistant Manager of Burchell Edwards Castle Bromwich office, Craig Stewart, said: "We are proud to be part of a continuing campaign of support for local community events. I spent many years of my youth boxing and we desperately need to keep this local facility running."

The Boxing Club is an important part of community life and has a real positive impact on the young people who attend and take part. They have produced more National Champions than any other Midlands Amateur Boxing Club. Joseph Costello is the National and European Champion and currently ranked No.1 in the world as the youngest boy to win a European title at Under 17's. He also won BBC Midlands "Young Sportsman of the Year" (aged 18 or under) in 2007 and is pushing hard to be part of the 2012 Olympic Boxing Team.

The club has also produced a number of promising youngsters namely Paul James Cawley, the National Flyweight Champion (Amateur); Sean Robbins who is the National and Great Britain Under 19's Heavyweight Champion; Jake Burridge aged 14 and Jorden Clayton aged 15, who both have a big future ahead of them.

John Costello, who has been coaching for Chapelhouse Boys Amateur Boxing Club for 7 years commented, "It is good to see local businesses raising money and awareness for the Club. We really rely on companies like Burchell Edwards to promote these events and thank them for their wholehearted support."

Throughout the evening there was 12 Bouts of Amateur Boxing along with a raffle to further aid this excellent community facility.
